The university and college sector in Norway is finding it difficult to produce universally designed video content. In a new project we will investigate practical solutions to this challenge.
Story by: Magne Lunde - 20.03.2019
There is a strong will in the Norwegian education sector to solve this problem. Feedback shows that universities and colleges both accept and understand the requirements for universally designed video, but that they are struggling to find practical solutions for production. The main goal of the project Universally designed video in practice is therefore to:
Explore approaches to universal video design in the education sector and to develop a set of guidelines that these institutions can follow.
The project is supported by the government research program UNIKT, and is a collaborative project between MediaLT, Universell, the Multimedia Center at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and the Association for Disabled students in Norway.
The project will first investigate:
This investigation will culminate in a first proposal for guidelines that will then be put into practice during a two month period at the Multimedia Center at NTNU. Videos produced in this period will be tested by disabled students and feedback from testing will then be used to produce the final guidelines.
